Emergency First Response (EFR)

Emergency First Response primary and secondary care training teaches you what to do in the critical moments between when a life-threatening emergency occurs and when emergency medical services arrive.

The PADI Diving Certificate can be obtained here at our Bali Dive Centre with our experienced team of PADI Dive Instructors.

The PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) course is a comprehensive training program focused on teaching primary and secondary care skills necessary for emergency response. It is designed for divers and non-divers alike, providing valuable first aid and CPR skills that can be applied in various emergency situations. Here's what you can expect from the PADI EFR course:

  1. Course Structure: The EFR course consists of knowledge development and practical application of skills. It typically takes one day to complete, with a combination of classroom sessions and hands-on training.
  2. Primary Care Skills: The course covers primary care skills, which include assessing an emergency situation, providing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and managing life-threatening conditions such as choking, serious bleeding, or shock.
  3. Secondary Care Skills: The EFR course also teaches secondary care skills, focusing on providing first aid and managing non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses. These skills include bandaging, splinting, assisting with potential spinal injuries, and managing environmental emergencies.
  4. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training: A key component of the EFR course is the training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). You'll learn how to operate an AED and integrate it into your emergency response procedures.
  5. Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, you'll be awarded the PADI Emergency First Response certification. This certification is valid for two years and demonstrates your ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  6. Continuing Education: The EFR certification is a prerequisite for certain PADI courses, such as the Rescue Diver course. It also serves as a valuable skill set beyond the diving realm, as the knowledge and skills gained can be applied in everyday life and other emergency response situations.

The EFR course provides you with the confidence and skills to respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care until professional medical help arrives. It is a valuable certification for divers, as well as non-divers who want to be prepared to handle emergency situations effectively. The skills you learn in the EFR course can make a difference in critical moments and potentially save lives.
